Ruben Amorim is taking over at Manchester United as the club’s new head coach and if there is one thing you can be sure of, it is that he will know the Portuguese football circuit like the back of his hand.
Having spent so many years with Sporting CP, he will not only know the talented players in his team but also in the rivals.

Amorim is likely to have come to Old Trafford with the 3-4-3 formation that he preferred to use during his time in Portugal. One major need of this tactical system is one flying wing-back on either side who can contribute in the attack and defense.
At Manchester United, the right side is sorted with Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui, both of whom are suited to that role.
However, on the left, both Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw have been battling with injury issues for a long time and no one knows in what shape or form they will return.
Thus, as per today’s edition of Correio da Manha (press image provided below), Man Utd boss, Amorim, is ready ‘to get ahead’ of competition and secure the signature of Benfica left-back Alvaro Carreras. It is worth noting that the Spaniard spent a phase of his career at Carrington.
CdM claim the biggest advantage Manchester United have in the pursuit of Alvaro is that they have a buyback clause in the range of around £16.6m while other clubs that want to sign him have to pay his release clause of around £41.5m.
This means that 20-time English champions can literally steal Alvaro from under the noses of other top clubs in Europe.
His performances for Benfica have been so good that it won’t be a surprise if clubs are willing to spend money around the valuation of his release clause to sign him.
It remains to be seen how Man Utd go about securing Alvaro Carreras signature. This is a no-brainer for Ruben Amorim and let’s hope the Red Devils get it done as soon as possible and bring him back home.
