Manchester United were linked with several wingers in the summer transfer window but managed to sign none.

As per Sport, Ousmane Dembele was close to signing for the Red Devils but there was not enough time to get the deal over the line.

Transfer: Man Utd have to secure signing of £45million star before deadline – Opinion

The renowned Spanish outlet have mentioned that the French international’s future remains up in the air and Barcelona are sure that he will leave the club in the January transfer window if he does not agree a contract extension.

Man Utd now have the chance to seal his signing in January. Sport claim that Koeman does not have Dembele in his plans and therefore, for a fee of over 50 million euros (£45million+), he would be offloaded in the winter window.

The 23-year-old is a world class talent but unfortunately, since moving to Spain, he has spent more time on the injury table and less time on the playing field.

Last season, the former Borussia Dortmund winger missed majority of the campaign due to muscle/hamstring related injuries. He started just 2 games in the UEFA Champions League and just 3 fixtures in the La Liga.

As far as this season is concerned, Koeman has preferred Fati, Griezmann and Messi in his starting lineup and in such a scenario, thus far, Dembele has warmed the bench.

In the opening league fixture vs Villareal, the Les Bleus attacker featured for 20 minutes as a second half substitute. In the games against Celta Vigo and Villareal, the Dutch manager did not even utilize the Frenchman at all.

Therefore, he needs to leave to play week in week out. Man Utd will have the entire month of January to secure the signing of a winger so they may look at other options. Woodward mainly wasted time in the summer transfer window so ideally, he should start working now in order to lure a top winger in January.

  1. What is the problem with Man.Utd always been a top club and everyone targets them and that all the media and some other fans and agents and some clubs like to take advantage of their vulnerability and put out all their issues of their failures and faults behind the scenes but it does not happen to other big clubs who lost miserably and have had their issues behind the scenes but yet it is all hidden and not so badly viewed and aired out like Man.Utd’s story.
How about even giving them credit when it is due.
I think from now on all Ole Gunnar has to do is to tell the players that they have got to prove the name Man.Utd even in the dressing room to bring out the best unity ever and to challenge these gossip mongers and to sort out their indifference and it is true that is the key point that will reflect on their winning and bring them results that they would understand what was the cause of their downfall. Everyone of them has to show eagerness of fighting for their club but not among each other.
