Manchester United made an early move this summer, securing the signature of talented former Wolves star Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian made the move to Old Trafford happen at a point when there were question marks about the English club’s ability to attract top talent.

Cunha is coming to Manchester after an excellent season with Wolves but he is only the start of what is expected to be a very busy summer for the Red Devils. One other Premier League star that the club are interested in is Bryan Mbeumo.

The Brentford star has emerged as the talisman for the English club since the exit of Ivan Toney.

However, the Bees are in the midst of a shake-up with Thomas Frank leaving to Tottenham, Norgaard likely to join Arsenal and Mbuemo could be the next one out of the door.

Now, as per ex-scout Mick Brown on Football Insider, Man Utd are close to signing Mbeumo from Brentford in the coming days. He said:

“Man United are close to signing Mbeumo. United are going to make another bid in the coming days and they’re confident they can get it done. From what I hear, I’m expecting things to speed up soon and I think it will go ahead.”

Valued at £65m, Mbeumo would perfectly fit into Ruben Amorim’s system at Old Trafford. A hard-working attacker, the Cameroonian could fit into a number of positions including the right wing and also as a wing-back if required.

Mbeumo also has the experience of having played through the middle for Brentford. Despite the price that Man Utd will have to spend, it would make a lot of sense for the Red Devils to make this deal happen this summer.

However, to sign the 25-year-old this summer, Man Utd might have to make some moves in the transfer market to free up salary space and this would mean making some significant sales in the upcoming days and weeks.

The Mbeumo transfer saga might play out for the next few weeks, but it is clear that Man Utd want to sign him this summer. Only time will tell us if the Cameroonian international is seen wearing a Red Devils jersey next season.
