Manchester United were linked with Newcastle United starlet Sean Longstaff in the summer transfer window and now, the Red Devils are looking to finally lure him.
Back in July, United were reportedly preparing an offer (Sky Sports) for the 22-year-old but the midfielder eventually stayed with the Magpies.
As per ESPN, Longstaff’s valuation of £50million proved to be the stumbling block for Man Utd in the summer and now, due to injury concerns, they are considering making a move to lure him in the January transfer window.
Transfer: How Man United could line up with £68million star
The English starlet broke into the first team of Newcastle United last season under the management of Rafael Benitez. He provided a crucial assist to help his club beat Man City in the Premier League and scored his debut goal for the senior team against Burnley in February.
This season, the midfielder has been out of form. So far, in 14 appearances, he is yet to open his account and has only provided a single assist. So, his market value might have dropped. Back in October, The Star covered an exclusive story and claimed that Woodward could convince NUFC to sell the youngster for £40million.
Sean’s brother Matty, who has mostly warmed the bench this term, has performed better than his older sibling. So far, in 4 appearances, the 19-year-old has netted two goals in the Premier League and it must be remembered both the goals were scored against Manchester United.
As far as our midfield is concerned, we are in crisis at the moment. Solskjaer did not reinforce the department in the summer even after allowing Herrera to leave for free.
Our record signing in the form of Pogba has mostly been on the treatment table. On the other hand, McTominay, who has arguably been our best midfielder this season, is out with a knee injury. Matic, who recently returned from injury will turn 32 this year and is clearly past his best. Fred has improved this season but the Brazilian is yet to live up to the massive fee that we paid to lure him from Shakhtar.
So, we lack quality and depth in the midfield and therefore, Solskjaer desperately needs to reinforce the department in January. In your view, should Man Utd move to sign Sean Longstaff in the winter transfer window?
Best waste of resources. Why can’t you buy players with an international appeal?
Ed Woodward must surely goooooo!!!!!!
Best for the job this year are Hakim ZIYECH.. A 26 yr old with a great agility, versatility, tricky, slippery and passion. Best center forward in Europe this season. Going at only 45m.
He has 21 assists and 8 goals to his name this season. Buy those with international appeal. Not poor Longstaff. He knows nothing in football.
Another player could b a number 6 position. Fabio Ruiz is good for the game
MUFC needs players like:
Toni Kroos.
Veratti.
Timo werner.
Cavani.
M Dembele of lyon.
Maddison.
Not those Longstaff or Grealish type please.
Manchester United is just a sham, this is no longer a football club,it’s a business owner by individual, when are they going to realize that the team is really dying? is it a must that Solskjaer must remain in charge
Learn to do business quick. You have players in mind to buy but you just talk and talk until other serious teams get the best players. Don’t ever cheat your self that you have a great team and players. At the moment you’re the least and the type of game you play is boring. Get players who can bring glory to the team
