According to Don Balon, Manchester United could agree a £26.3m deal for Real Betis midfielder Fabian Ruiz and may have to battle Barcelona to procure his signature this summer. The 22-year-old is considered ‘the new Kaka’ and could be on the move as suitors line up for his services.
Ruiz re-joined Betis in Elche in 2017 and has gone on to make 59 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating 10 goals. The Spanish u21 international has impressed this campaign, featuring 34 times in La Liga as Betis earned a Europa League spot in the table.
United are desperate for a midfielder this summer, with Michael Carrick hanging up his boots to become a first-team coach and Marouane Fellaini looking set to exit Old Trafford when his contract expires in the coming weeks. The two departures would leave the Red Devils short in the engine room, hence the interest in Ruiz.
The 22-year-old is a creative midfielder who can drive with the ball from deep into the final third and is very comfortable in possession. He’s also got a combative edge to his game and isn’t afraid to put in a challenge. Don Balon say Ruiz will cost United £26.3m to sign this summer which wouldn’t break the bank, but Barcelona’s reported interest could prove a stumbling block.
