Club confirms — Manchester United could sign 19-year-old if they pay £26million

Manchester United could agree a £26m with Steaua Bucuresti for Dennis Man. President Gigi Becali revealed the Red Devils’ interest and named his asking price for the talented forward.

Manager Jose Mourinho could be looking for a replacement for Anthony Martial and Juan Mata, both of whom have been rumoured to be on their way out of Old Trafford this summer.

Man joined Steaua from UTA Arad in 2016 and has gone on to make 56 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating 22 goals.

The 19-year-old, who has picked up a cap for Romania, has been a regular at club level and could have a bright future ahead of him.  As a result, Becali has slapped a big price tag on Man’s head, telling United they won’t accept a penny less.

He said, in quotes reported by the Metro: “Manchester United asked me about Dennis Man and I want €30million (£26m). I know that they won’t pay this amount, but the player isn’t for sale,” he said.

Mourinho was recently spotted in Bucharest, watching Romania against Finland. It’s believed he was watching Man at the Ilie Oana Stadium and saw the teenager coming on as a second-half substitute in Romania’s 2-0 win.

United have an overstocked attack, with Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez for options, so the Red Devils might let an existing player leave for Man’s potential arrival.

  1. Sounds like fake news to me. I can see United going after a forward like Neymar, Griezmann or Dybala but why would United pick up a forward who is less talented than all those they currently have when they have more pressing needs elsewhere???
