According to Don Balon, Manchester United could agree a shock deal for Cristiano Ronaldo who ‘could quit Real Madrid this summer’. The 33-year-old has become frustrated with a lack of progress in contract talks and could be on the move if his agent and Los Blancos fail to reach an agreement.
Ronaldo joined Real from United in 2009 and has gone on to make more than 430 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating 581 goals. The Portuguese international has won four Champions League trophies, two Copa Del Reys and two Liga titles.
His contract with Real still has three years to run, but Ronaldo wants an improved deal as promised by president Florentino Perez. However, there’s been no progress and the 33-year-old has given Real a deadline to hash out his future. He wants his future resolved after the 2018 World Cup.
If Real and Ronaldo are still unable to agree a deal, United could capitalise on the situation. The Portuguese international and Red Devils’ manager Jose Mourinho are both represented by Jorge Mendes which could make negotiations a lot easier this summer, but nothing has been finalised.
The 2018 World Cup in Russia will finish in mid-July, giving Real six weeks to tie Ronaldo down to a new contract.
