Man Utd could move to steal signing of £28.5million star – Report

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Man Utd boss

Manchester United are interested in numerous central defenders and the latest name in the lime light is that of Sven Botman.

If the reports in the media are anything to go by then Man Utd could move to steal the signing of the Netherlands star, who is also wanted by Liverpool in January.

Transfer: Report – Man Utd can get signing done for £71.6million

Lately, Duncan Castles revealed that the reigning Premier League champions have already started discussions to sign the Lille center half in the winter transfer window (Transfer Window Podcast).

However, as per The Sunday World, the Merseysiders could face serious competition because the Old Trafford outfit are set to join the race to secure the signature of the 20-year-old center back.

Botman left Ajax to move to the Ligue 1 side last summer for a fee of 8 million euros and he has been in highly impressive form. Now, Kevin Palmer has claimed that he could be sold for four times the amount i.e. 32 million euros (£28.5million).

Lille are currently level on points with league leaders Lyon and have the second best defensive record after reigning champions PSG. In 17 games, so far, the French side have only conceded 12 goals and kept 8 clean sheets.

On the other hand, Man Utd have conceded 24 goals in the Premier League this term and kept just 4 clean sheets. No team in the top half has conceded more goals than the Red Devils.

At the moment, United are only behind Liverpool in the table due to an inferior goal difference and things should be improved at the back if Solskjaer wants to take the title away from Klopp.

In your opinion, should Man Utd move to steal the signing of £28.5million-rated Botman?
