Manchester United have not adequately strengthened their midfield department under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and they are planning to do so in the next transfer window.
If reports in the media are anything to go by then Man Utd plot a swap offer to sign Declan Rice from West Ham in exchange of Jesse Lingard.
Transfer: Report – Man Utd submit offer to sign £198,000-a-week wanted player
According to The Athletic, the Red Devils are set to explore the signing of the highly rated play breaker as part of any Hammers’ deal for Lingard.
The famous source have revealed that the 28-year-old attacker is currently valued at around £25million but Woodward could even ask for more taking into consideration that he has been in top class form since completing his loan move to West Ham in January.
So far, in 8 starts, the England international has directly contributed in 10 goals (6 goals and 4 assists) under the management of David Moyes, who is in pole position to lead his side to Champions League football. His top performances convinced Southgate, who selected him in the Three Lions squad for the recently held World Cup qualification fixtures.
In the last league contest vs Wolves, Lingard scored a goal of the season contender, he picked the ball in his own half and ran the length of the field to slot the ball in the net. He also provided a brilliant assist as well.
However, the attacking midfielder has no place at Old Trafford. Naturally Lingard likes to play in the No.10 role and that position is being occupied by a world class playmaker in the form of Bruno Fernandes.
Over the years, Man Utd have spent a lot of cash to improve the back-line but they do not have a top quality defensive midfielder to provide cover to the defense. Matic is past his best and rarely plays under Ole and in such a scenario, Rice would be a top replacement.
However, the 15-capped international will not come for cheap. Reports (ESPN) have suggested that West Ham would demand a fee of around £70million to let their prized asset leave in the summer. In your view, should Man Utd sell Jesse Lingard to the Hammers to sign Declan Rice?
Interesting. So westham are planning to offer the 25m rated rice as part of a deal for the 70m rated Lingard. NO THANKS. MUFC don’t want that rubbish
And then one day everyone woke up. If you think west ham will include rice in lingard deal which they have already said wont happen I suggest time for a reality check very very quickly. Not the slightest hope. Amazing isnt it someone who has very little idea floats a theory and the straw clutchers are off again !
