Manchester United opted to lure Donny van de Beek last summer but the Netherlands star has mainly been a bench warmer under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
If reports in the media are anything to go by, then Jose Mourinho, who is going to be in charge of Roma next season, is looking to rescue the former Ajax star from the Red Devils.
Transfer: Man Utd ready to submit offer to sign £200,000-a-week player – Report
According to Calcio Mercato, the 24-year-old star is on the radar of the Portuguese boss, it is stated that the Gilallorossi have recently inquired to lure him from Man Utd, who demand the signing of Zaniolo in a swap deal.
The Italian source claim that it could take a fee of 30 million euros to hire the services of the Dutch attacking midfielder.
Van de Beek has so far started just 2 league in the Premier League for the Old Trafford club. In the Champions League he started 3 games and in the Europa League, he has only made one start i.e. against Roma last night.
It must be remembered that Man Utd paid £40million to hire his services from Ajax last year (The Mail), so, it would be surprising if they will allow him to leave for just £26million this summer. Still, I do think we should offload the Dutchman because with Fernandes around, there is no future for him at the club.
As far as Zaniolo is concerned, the versatile playmaker can play anywhere in the attacking third, even as a winger. He is rated very highly in Italy but his price tag has dropped down to £26million due to consistent injury concerns (Il Messagero).
He has not played a single game for Roma this season and is currently out injured as well. Therefore, I really do think we should avoid securing his signature. Let us know your opinion.
