Man Utd eye move to finally sign £60million star in January – Report

Lyon and France striker Moussa Dembele

Manchester United have been linked with French international and Moussa Dembele for a long time and once again, the Lyon striker is in the focus and the Old Trafford club are looking to finally sign him in January.

According to The Mail, the Red Devils have been tracking the player’s career since his early days at Paris Saint-Germain and then followed his progress with Fulham and Scottish giants Celtic, where he excelled under the management of Brendan Rodgers.

Moreover, the British outlet have mentioned that Man Utd, who were also linked with the center forward in the summer, have monitored the performance of the 23-year-old in his last three games and are eyeing a move to sign him in the winter transfer window.

Transfer: Man Utd consider move to sign £100million+ star in January – Report

In the last campaign, Dembele was mainly a second choice striker at Lyon but he impressed big time. He only started 21 league games (33 appearances) and directly contributed in 20 goals (15 goals and 5 assists).

This season, so far, he has been the Ligue 1 club’s main man. Dembele has netted 6 goals in 7 league appearances and he is currently the leading goalscorer in the competition.

United clearly lack firepower up front after letting Sanchez and Lukaku leave in the summer.

Furthermore, key first team forwards such as Rashford and Martial have suffered injuries in recent weeks and in such a scenario, Solskjaer really needs to strengthen the strike-force department.

Moussa Dembele has proved his talent in multiple countries but unfortunately, he is yet to make his debut for the senior international team mainly because Deschamps has got several top quality strikers at his disposal.

His current contract with Lyon will expire in 2023 and as per The Daily Record, an asking price of £60million have already been quoted. Should United splash the cash to finally get his signing done?

  1. Yeah, it’s crystal clear that United are short of options going forward and Solksjaer knows that. So, if United don’t sign Dembele in the January transfer window, then they should be set for a story that touches by the end of the season.

  2. I thought United should have made a bid to get him in the summer but the main position that needs strengthening is the midfield. But getting quality players like Dembele in January won’t be easy

  3. Here we go again. Why do MU keep buying wrong player. We need play makers. Both defensive and attacking. Like Matuidi, Modric, Silva etc. We need players with speed and skills to hold and win ball. Something is really wrong. Loose good player buy wrong player. Example: Lukaku.

  4. Get rid of Pogba. He is not suitable and not consistent either. I dont need a player who only sparks for 10mins out of 90mins. France won not because of Pogba. Because of Umtiti, Varane, Pavard, Matuidi, Griezman and Mbape.
