Manchester United are in search of a striker and reports indicate that they are looking to sign Sergio Kun Aguero who, will be out of contract in June.
Man City have confirmed that their record goal scorer will be leaving the club at the end of the campaign and reports suggest that there are many suitors for the Argentine international, who is one of the best strikers of his generation.
Transfer: Man Utd return, ready to bid to finally sign £215,000-a-week player – Press view
According to Foot Mercato, Man Utd have moved in with an offer to sign the La Albiceleste center forward on a bosman. However, they are not alone in the race. It is stated that the likes of Inter Milan, PSG and Chelsea have made proposals as well.
Aguero has served the Sky Blues for a decade and has been a key part of their success. He has won every major domestic title in England and has consistently scored under the management of current boss Pep Guardiola. Last season, in 25 starts, the South American striker netted 23 goals in all competitions for the Cityzens.
In the current campaign, unfortunately, the £220,000-a-week star (The Mail) had knee and hamstring concerns to deal with at the start, then contracted coronavirus and afterwards, Pep has mostly kept him on the bench perhaps to prepare the team for the future.
The 97-capped international has only started 5 games this term and therefore, it is not surprising that he will be leaving the club this summer.
The former Atletico Madrid striker won the PL Golden Boot in the 2014-15 campaign and he has consistently scored over 20+ goals in the league apart from a few seasons. On the other hand, no Man Utd player has netted 20+ league goals since Robin van Persie last did it in the title winning 2012-13 season.
So, a top quality finisher must be lured by Solskjaer and Aguero completely fits the bill. However, after spending a decade on the Blue side of Manchester, moving to Old Trafford might be considered as an act of betrayal.
Not to forget, Man Utd did lure a veteran in the form of Cavani last year, so, they need someone who would serve the club in the long run and Aguero’s best days are behind him. In your view, who should Ole sign to strengthen his strike-force for next season.
