Manchester United are linked with a top striker in the form of Edinson Cavani but face heavy competition to hire his services in the summer transfer window.
According to a report covered by renowned French source L’Equipe (via Sport Witness), the Red Devils have positioned themselves to sign the Uruguayan international in summer.
More recently, AS covered claims made by Josep Pedrerol on sports program, El Chiringuito. The Spanish journalist revealed that the likes of Man United, Inter Milan and Arsenal have moved in with offers to lure the 32-year-old, whose contract with the Ligue 1 champions will expire in June.

Pedrerol added that if Atletico Madrid are willing to meet his demands then he would prefer to move to the Rojiblancos to play under the management of Argentine boss Diego Simeone (AS).
Cavani is a world class striker, who has scored goals for fun over the years. For Napoli, the South American netted over 100 goals before moving to Paris Saint-Germain. He is the leading goalscorer in the French club’s history having found the net 198 times.
Unfortunately, in the current campaign, the former Serie A striker has mostly been on the treatment table and so far, in 6 starts, he has netted 5 goals in all competitions.
For the national team, the £318,000-a-week star (L’Equipe – talkSPORT) has made 116 appearances and netted 50 goals, 9 fewer than the country’s all time leading scorer, Luis Suarez.
As far as Manchester United are concerned, Solskjaer sold Lukaku in the summer transfer window and has not replaced the Belgian as yet. Ideally, United should look to sign a proven quality center forward this month instead of waiting for the next window.
The veteran forward is a clinical finisher and has the quality to improve Man Utd’s strike-force but it must be remembered that he will turn 33 next month and cannot really serve the club in the long run.
In your view, should Man Utd secure the signing of Edinson Cavani?
