Manchester United need to improve their defense in the summer transfer window and a top quality defender is linked with them as per latest reports going on in the media.
According to Tutto Mercato Web, Man United continue to press to hire the services of Portuguese international and Juventus star Joao Cancelo, who is not happy in Turin.
The Italian outlet have mentioned that Manchester United have an offer of 50 million euros ready to sign the Seleccao fullback, however, that offer would not be enough to secure his signature because the Old Lady are looking to get a (maximum) price of 65 million euros (£56million).
Transfer: Man United boss promised over £100million for marquee signing
Therefore, TMW state that United could also include Darmian in the deal to meet the asking price and get the transfer over the line.
Opinion:
As far as Manchester United’s right back situation is concerned, Valencia had an injury hit campaign and the veteran Ecuadorian is not really needed at Old Trafford any more.
On the other hand, Ashley Young, who has been highly inconsistent in the current campaign, will turn 34 in July and he needs to be offloaded as well.
Young Diogo Dalot was signed last year and he has done well on and off but I think United should lure a proven quality defender for the right-back role and Cancelo perfectly fits the bill.
The former Inter Milan star is not only a solid defender but also a productive attacker. He can effectively play on either attacking flank if needed. In the current campaign, so far, in 32 appearances for Juve, he has directly contributed in 9 goals (1 goal and 8 assists).
In your view, who should United lure to strengthen their right back position?
We may have heard this a couple of times before … let me repeat it agin, I won’t promise it won’t hurt though!
Our problem is 6 years old and we tried to solving it using a lot of dosh led by a guy, for a business man, does not know the football business- Woodward.
With 5/6 seasons worth of stark evidence, he does not seem to have any clue as to the importance of the required Strategic Construct to adequately and consistently compete with the best and hopefully elevate us above them – both in PL and CL competitions. With this lack Strategic Vision lies his unforgivable ignorance – our succession planning, our youth development and recruitment.
I think we are first and foremost a football club… everything rides on this obvious fact. Therefore the big honchos should have woken up and smelt the coffee when the genius of SAF is no longer in play.
We need to be at our brilliant best, in terms of our footballing style and ultimately results; to attract the best mangers/ support staff, recruit world class players with the right attitude and develop our youngsters to handle and thrive in the tough world of PL without spending carelessly.
I hope we are awake… rather the people who are responsible for running and developing our lifelong passion that is MANU.
my candid opinion here, please we the UNITED fans are not just happy over everything going in our Club, please starting from the Executive vice charman, woodward, to his new gambled appointed manager OLE, and most of our lazy players who does not fit in our clubs phylosophy, players like….ashely young, smalling, daimian, lukaku, lingard, mata, matial, Sanchez, matic, fred, and Rojo,…all this players no longer plays for the club, show them the exit door. try recruit serious and determined players. players like dybala, Douglas Costa, koulibaly, Fernandez, cancelo, manolas, tadic, ayoze. with this players in our disposal UNITED will regain their Respect in EUROPE.
If the management is the one too mean on cash I pray that man u should continue facing what they’re experiencing now up to when they’ll wakeup when it’s late only to sell the club to people who have focus
Give us Wan Bissaka
I think united need to look at players like koulibaly and cancelo to sum up with shaw and lindelof in the defence
I am sure buying one or two player in defence and midfield
would possibly improve and may stabilise is in the short term.
However, we need to see the bigger picture and understand
what is happening with the opposition camps – ManCity,
Liverpool, Tottenham and even Arsenal. Particularly the first
three perform consistently, and competing for the highest honours
with a balanced team and clearly identifiable footballing style.
The first 10 games under OGS could not be flashes in the pan.
Those games and results indicate a clear style of play and discernible passion from the majority of our team.
The following collapse into dispassionate and disorganised action on
the pitch and off it must be analysed to the minutest of details
to learn as much as possible to prevent it happening ever.
And the only way we could ensure this from happening is by streamlining the footballing structure right down from Mr Woodward.
Start from telling Mr Woodward to focus on Marketing
leaving the footballing issue to professionals.
This structural change should start by adding a Football/ Technical Director. This is not just following fashion. The player power and
money involved has become astronomical and the business model
of football clubs has evolved. To ensure the club’s mission statement
for football will be best served by an additional layer of
Purely footballing long term experts.
