Manchester United have been heavily linked with Giorgio Scalvini and the latest reports are intriguing.

Last night, Alfredo Pedulla covered a story on his official website on the subject and reported that Man Utd appreciate the young defender.

The well-known Italian transfer expert has mentioned that Atalanta would like to hold on to their prized asset and only a crazy offer would change the situation.

Pedulla claims the suitors will have to agree a fee of at least £51.7m (60 million euros) to secure his signing in the January transfer window.

He stated that with the quality and the talent of Scalvini, he would be “perfect” for the Premier League.

In the current campaign, the 20-year-old has so far featured in 21 games in all competitions (16 in the Serie A) for the Bergamo club and helped them keep eight clean sheets.

Last night, he returned from an abductor injury and featured for 74 minutes in the 3-1 victory over Sassuolo in the Round of 16 of the Coppa Italia.

After 18 games, La Dea are 6th in the Serie A, four points behind Fiorentina, who currently occupy the final Champions League qualification spot.

Manager, Gasperini, needs Scalvini to bounce back in the second half of the campaign, so, it will be hard for Man Utd to convince the Italians and secure his signing.

The Red Devils broke the bank and paid over the odds to sign Hojlund from Atalanta last summer. Should they now pay £51.7m for Giorgio Scalvini to solve their ongoing problems at the back?
