Transfer: Man Utd “reserve” signing, move “closer” by sealing another deal with club – Report
The Sky Sports journalist claimed that the La Liga champions informed Man Utd and the Bavarians that they have to agree a deal of over £68.8m (80 million euros) to sign the South American in the winter transfer window.
However, Araujo have no plans of leaving the Catalan giants this month, therefore, the suitors would likely have to wait until the summer to secure his signing.
The 24-year-old star is one of the best central defenders in the Spanish league and was a key member of Xavi’s squat that won the title last season.
In the 2022-23 campaign, the former Boston River CB, who can also play effectively in the RB role, started 21 games in the league and helped Barca keep no fewer than 16 clean sheets.
In the last three World Cup qualification fixtures, Araujo helped Uruguay keep clean sheets in the victories against Bolivia, world champions, Argentina, and Brazil.
In all fairness, Man Utd need Champions League football to attract a top quality player like the 16-capped star and at the moment, they need a miracle to qualify for the next season’s CL.
Have your say – Should Man Utd agree a deal worth more than £68.8m to sign Ronald Araujo?
