Man Utd have to agree signing of £58.6million player in January – Opinion

Alaba Austria

Manchester United have leaked goals on regular basis this season and they badly need a leader in their back-line.

The future of David Alaba at Bayern Munich is up in the air and in my view, Man Utd have to agree his signing in the January transfer window to strengthen the defense.

The Austrian international will be out of contract next summer and Bayern have so far failed to agree an extension mainly due to the player’s huge demands.

According to KZ, the Champions League winners have offered him a lucrative deal of over 210,000 euros a week but Alaba is holding out for a mammoth salary of 385,000 euros a week.

The Austrian source have mentioned that the 28-year-old is worth 65 million euros (£58.6million) but if his demands are not met by the German champions, then he would like to leave.

Alaba is a proven quality star, who has won every major title with Bayern. He can effectively play in the central defense and also as a left wingback. The defender has got a fantastic left foot and can score long range goals from direct free kicks.

In my view, United have to move to sign him in the January transfer window and must not wait for his contract to expire because other top clubs could take advantage then.

At the moment, we are in the bottom half of the table and we need the player in the middle of the season to revive our campaign.

Already, Solskjaer’s men have conceded 13 goals in the first 7 league games and it is evident that Maguire is not good enough to lead the back-line, Lindelof is inconsistent and Bailly remains highly injury prone. Therefore, the Old Trafford outfit should move in to sign David Alaba in the winter window.

In your view, should Man Utd splash the cash to sign the European Champion in January?

  1. Woodward and the board feel they sign the right players, it is a shame that united kept on loosing at home. It is a shame that united failed to sign three target during the transfer windows. So woodward and the board should stop praising themselves. Let the fans be the ones to praise you.
