Manchester United have signed several center halves over the years but they have still remained inconsistent at the back.
As far as the current campaign is concerned, the Red Devils have already conceded 23 goals in just 14 Premier League fixtures and things should be improved in the back-line if they are to seriously challenge Liverpool for the title.
Transfer: £6.2million player to secure Man Utd move – Report
Tuanzebe is inexperienced, Bailly has mainly remained injury prone for us and the likes of Maguire and Lindelof have not been consistent. To make matters even worse, the Swedish international is now out after suffering a back injury in the clash vs Leicester yesterday (The Sun).
According to a recent report covered by The Daily Telegraph, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s priority is to sign a center half for Man Utd in the winter transfer window.
The Old Trafford outfit have been linked with numerous top center backs and in my view, they have to secure the signing of Dayot Upamecano from Leipzig in January.
The 23-year-old French international was brilliant for Leipzig in the last campaign, he helped them earn third place in the Bundesliga and put in solid performances to help the team reach the last four of the Champions League.
Even in the current campaign, the Les Bleus defender has proved to be strong at the back and under his command, Leipzig have the best defensive record in the Bundesliga. So far, they have only conceded 9 goals in 13 games.
A quality player like Upamecano is not going to come for cheap but United are in a decent position to challenge for the PL trophy and they badly need a top center half to transform the defense.
Liverpool used to concede goals on regular basis before the arrival of Van Dijk, who has been vital in all the titles that the Reds have won in the last two campaigns.
Upamecano’s current contract with the German club will expire in 2023 and as per reports (Sport Bild) he is valued at around 60 million euros (£54.7million). In your opinion, should Man Utd match the asking price to sign him in January?
A big YES
yes we definitely should.
