Koulibaly and Skriniar

Manchester United have been linked with Kalidou Koulibaly for a very long time and reports indicate that they are in contact to finally sign him.

Back in 2019, the Red Devils were keen on capturing the Senegal international but were not prepared to meet the asking price of 120 million euros (La Gazzetta Dello Sport).

Transfer: Deal close – Man United accelerate to sign £59.6million star – Report

We ended up luring Harry Maguire, who is still the most expensive defender in the world and unfortunately, he has been highly inconsistent for us.

Last year, the Old Trafford outfit moved in with a bid worth 30 million euros (£29.7million), however, the offer was turned down by Napoli president, Aurelio de Laurentiis (GdS).

Man Utd went on to lure four-time Champions League winner, Raphael Varane, but the World Cup winner has spent a considerable amount of time on the treatment table this term and has not been at his best. As a result, the Red Devils have suffered big time.

Now, according to Area Napoli, Man Utd are in contact with the representative of Koulibaly, who could be lured for a fee of 35 million euros this summer.

The news source have mentioned that the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Barca and Chelsea are linked with the 30-year-old central defender as well.

Koulibaly is one of the best defenders in the Italian league. The African superstar made it into the Serie A Team of the Season four years in a row (2015-2019) and has won the Senegal Player of the Year prize on two occasions.

In the current campaign, he has so far started 25 games in the league and helped Napoli, who have qualified for the Champions League, keep 10 clean sheets (3 goals and 2 assists).

Earlier this year, the former Genk man captained his nation to their maiden African Cup of Nations title. He surely has the quality and experience to improve the backline at Old Trafford.

In your view, should Man Utd splash £29.7million to finally sign Kalidou Koulibaly?
