Man Utd in hunt for PL ace who ‘can become one of the best’ – Journalist

Old Trafford night

Manchester United have been “watching” Brighton forward Evan Ferguson and monitoring his progress, according to Daily Mail journalist Mike Keegan.

The likes of Sergio Reguilon, Jonny Evans, Sofyan Amrabat, and Altay Bayindir arrived at Old Trafford in the summer transfer window to help Erik ten Hag continue his progress, and Keegan says the Red Devils are “already working two windows ahead”.

Recently, Manchester Evening News reported that United are targeting as many as four new faces for next summer, and Brighton sensation, Ferguson, is under consideration.

Ferguson is one of the brightest young talents in the Premier League. He enjoyed a breakthrough 2022-23 campaign and has started the new season on a high.

He became just the fourth teenager to score a Premier League hat-trick when Brighton won 3-1 against Newcastle before the international break.

The teenager has scored eight goals in his last eight starts, and it looks like Brighton have unearthed another gem of a player.

Roberto De Zebri definitely feels that way. He says that the 18-year-old could become the top scorer in Europe in the future.

“He can become big, big, big. His qualities are enough to become a great player,” said Zebri, as quoted by Sky Sports.

“He can become one of the best, the top scorer in Europe. He was born in 2004, he’s 18. I don’t know how many players are young, that score like him.”

Ferguson has signed a new five-year contract recently with the Seagulls. Therefore, any potential suitor will have to pay a huge fee to sign him.

The Red Devils paid a hefty fee of around £72m to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta this summer, but it appears that Ten Hag wants more depth and quality upfront.

Brighton have sold players like Moises Caicedo (£115m), Alexis Mac Allister (£55m), and Robert Sanchez (£25m) on big-money transfers, and the club could be encouraged to sell Ferguson in the future as well if the price is right.
