Manchester United have let in 56 goals in 37 Premier League games and only five teams (three in the relegation zone) have conceded more than the Red Devils this season.

Transfer: Man Utd lead to agree signing of £77million star – Report

According to The Sunday Mirror (press image provided below), the Red Devils and Newcastle United are serious about signing the Sporting CP center half, who could cost around £40million.

The renowned news source have mentioned that the interest of the Magpies is much more intense but the Liga Nos side will offer Man Utd the first option to sign the 20-year-old player due to their close relations.

Back in 2014, Man Utd signed Marcos Rojo and in 2020, they hired the services of Bruno Fernandes from the Primeira Liga side.

Inacio has won every major domestic prize in Portugal with Sporting CP and played a key role in the title winning campaign last term. The youngster started 15 games in the league and helped the team keep 12 clean sheets.

As far as the current campaign is concerned, so far the Lions have only conceded 23 goals in 33 league games and the starlet has helped the team keep 14 clean sheets (27 apps). The 6 ft defender has also managed to score 5 goals (2 assists) in all competitions.

Man Utd were ripped apart by Brighton in the last game and the defending was all over the place. In your view, should Ten Hag splash £40million to sign Goncalo Inacio?
