Manchester United are in search of a defender and not for the first time, the name of Kalidou Kouliubaly is linked with a move to Old Trafford.
The African star is one of the most experienced defenders in the world, who has been highly consistent for Napoli in the Italian league.
Transfer: Man Utd ready to agree fee to sign £190,000-a-week player – Report
If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Red Devils can get his signing done for as low as £43million in the next transfer window.
According to Ian McGarry, Man Utd lead rivals Liverpool to finally secure the signing of the 29-year-old center back this summer.
The transfer expert told the Transfer Window Podcast:
“He was available for €90m in last summer’s transfer window but we understand that a fee of around €60m (£51.6m), potentially even as little as €45m would be enough to secure his services.
“Now, we know that Manchester United are interested and also Liverpool, although Liverpool have cooled their interest somewhat.”
Last year, Napoli were looking to get at least 100 million euros from the sale of their prized asset (La Gazzetta Dello Sport). In the end, the former Genk man ended up staying with the Serie A side.
Earlier this month, the famous Italian media source have claimed that Koulibaly could leave the Naples based side for a fee as low as 50 million euros (£43million).
Lately, with skipper Harry Maguire out, Man Utd have suffered big time at the back and Ole also should learn from Liverpool’s disastrous season due to the absence of Van Dijk. Therefore, someone with quality and experience should be bought to strengthen the backline and Koulubaly perfectly fits the bill.
In your view, should Man Utd spend £43million to finally sign the star defender?
