Man Utd might be having a very difficult season in the Premier League but their progress in the Europa League has been nothing short of dramatic. They overcame Olympique Lyon in dramatic fashion in the quarterfinals last week.

If Ruben Amorim’s men were to make an unlikely run in the Europa League and end up with silverware, it would help paper over the cracks on what has been a truly abysmal season until this point and also get them Champions League football for the next season.

Man Utd are in the bottom half of the Premier League table and are unlikely to qualify for any European competition through the league.

However, an unlikely Champions League qualification could give them a better budget to work with and also the chance to attract more high-profile players.

Now, as per Sky Sports, Man Utd are leading the race to secure the signing of talented Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo amid interest from Liverpool. The £70m player has been in excellent form for Andoni Iraola’s side so far this season.

The versatile Ghanaian attacker has played 36 times across all competitions for the Cherries, registering 10 goals and providing 6 assists. These numbers have attracted interest from top English clubs like the Red Devils and Liverpool.

Capable of playing on either side of the attack, Semenyo is extremely evasive with his quick movement and can be a tricky customer to face. However, his natural position as a winger is currently not a feature of Ruben Amorim’s system.

That said, the Portuguese tactician has the track record of having converted wingers into extremely effective wing-backs in the past and even managed to do it to significant effect at Old Trafford with Amad Diallo before the Ivorian got injured.

Ultimately, it could all come down to the price tag that Bournemouth are asking for, but signing Semenyo would be a good signing for Man Utd without exactly bringing the roof down. Let’s wait and see how the transfer saga for the 25-year-old plays out in the coming months.
