Fred was the last big signing Manchester United completed to improve their central midfield and that happened way back in 2018.

So, they seriously need to strengthen the department in the next transfer window, especially keeping in view that record signing Paul Pogba will be out of contract in the summer.

Transfer: Man Utd ready to offer £76million to sign striker – Report

Reports have heavily linked Serbian star, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, with the Old Trafford club. The Lazio midfielder may finally end up leaving the Serie A side at the end of the campaign.

Back in January 2022, Il Messaggero claimed that the Red Devils are favorites to hire the former Genk man. More recently, Juve Dipendenza, have also reported that Man Utd lead to sign the 27-year-old.

The experienced Serie A star is also on the radar of Real Madrid and PSG but the Spaniards already have a solid midfield and the French leaders are more interested in securing Pogba.

According to renowned Italian journalist, Alfredo Pedulla, Lazio president, Lotito, rates Milinkovic-Savic at 70 million euros but could give a discount and sell him for a (minimum) fee of 60 million euros i.e. around £50.7million.

Unlike Pogba, the Serb has got a very good fitness record and has not missed a single game through injury this term. He is a versatile talent, who can not only pull the strings in the central midfield but can be effective in the attack as well.

This season, so far, he has directly contributed in 18 goals (8 goals and 10 assists) in 39 appearances for the Biancocelesti. Do you think, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is good enough to replace Pogba? Should Man Utd spend £50.7million to sign him?
