Manchester United to make final £60 million offer for England international

Man United are preparing the “take it or leave it” final £60 million offer for Tottenham’s midfielder Eric Dier.

The England international has been on Jose Mourinho’s wish list for quite some time now, and the Portuguese instructed CEO Ed Woodward to step up the chase for Dier and try to lure him away from White Hart Lane. The player is believed to be very interested in joining the Red Devils, but Spurs owner Daniel Levy and manager Mauricio Pochettino are playing hardball over the transfer.

United already had a £50 million offer rejected by Levy earlier this year, but Mourinho is determined to take Dier to Old Trafford and will submit the increased bid for the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder. Tottenham is reluctant to sell to the rivals, and in case they refuse the new offer, Mourinho will turn his attention to other targets such as Nemanja Matic.

Dier currently earns £70,000 a week at White Hart Lane and his salary would be twice as much if he joins the Red Devils. He does have four years remaining on his current contract with Spurs, but the utility man would like to play as a defensive midfielder, something he can’t get at Tottenham as Pochettino prefers Victor Wanyama at the position.

Mourinho is willing to give Dier what he wants, but we’ll have to wait and see whether Tottenham will accept the fresh bid for the 23-year-old. Dier appeared in 48 games for Spurs last season, including 36 matches in the Premier League and added two goals to his name.
