Man Utd most interested in signing playmaker with £71million release clause – Report

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Man Utd boss

After 7 PL fixtures, United have only conceded 7 goals, which is the (joint) second best defensive record in the current campaign at the moment. Only Liverpool and Leicester has conceded fewer (5).

Still, we are 10th in the table because our attack has not been good enough. This shows that reinforcing our back-line in the summer has helped but ignoring the offense has back-fired big time. Solskajer should have adequately replaced Sanchez and Lukaku.

According to reports going on in the media, the Red Devils are linked with numerous attacking players and the latest name in the lime light is that of Martin Odegaard.

Transfer: Man Utd believe they can agree signing of £35million playmaker in January – Report

Two days back, The Sun reported that Solskjaer wants his compatriot at Old Trafford. Moreover, yesterday, Sport reported that Man Utd has shown the most interest in hiring the services of the 20-year-old playmaker, who has a release clause of 80 million euros (£71million) in his contract.

The renowned Spanish source have claimed that apart from the Old Trafford club, the likes of Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Dortmund, Bayern and Atletico have the youngster on their radar as well.

The Norwegian international signed for Real Madrid back in 2015 but in all these years, he has made just two appearances for the Los Blancos’ first team.

Naturally, Odegaard is a right winger, but he can effectively play anywhere in the attacking third. In the last campaign, he played on loan with Dutch side Vitesse, scored 11 goals and provided 12 assists in 39 appearances.

This season, he is currently on loan with Real Sociedad, who have mainly utilized him in the CAM role. So far, the former Stromsgodset attacker has netted 2 goals and provided 2 assists 7 appearances and he has been named as September’s Player of the Month in the Spanish La Liga (Marca).

In your view, is Odegaard good enough to strengthen Man Utd’s attack?

  1. Would he improve our team? Would he solve our problem? Yes and No. We NEED a defensive central midfielder to shore up the hole in our midfield and while Odegaard is a good player he won’t fill that hole. I believ all this speculation is a smoke screen to try and force Madrid into playing him or to boost his profile to get a big paying move.
