Manchester United are scrambling for a reliable Number 1 with less than 10 days to go until the start of pre-season against Leeds United in Oslo, Norway.

As per today’s version of La Gazzetta Dello Sport (news image provided below), Man Utd are moving closer to reaching the asking fee to sign Onana.

The media outlet claim Man Utd’s official proposal will be €40m fixed + €5m in add-ons and this formal proposal will kick-start the actual negotiations.

GdS claim although Inter’s starting request is €60m but if the PL side soon reach €50m, then the Nerazzurri will approve the transfer.

As per reliable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, United have verbally proposed an offer of €45m for the Cameroonian.

However, the Serie A outfit are demanding €60m in order to sanction their star shot-stopper’s exit. A similar claim has been made by Fabrizio Romano as well.

Onana is understood to be keen to reunite with his former Ajax boss at Old Trafford, and reports in Italy indicate Inter would welcome a big sale due to their precarious financial situation. The Nerazzurri are already exploring the transfer market for the African’s potential replacement.

The possibility of re-signing David de Gea on new terms isn’t ruled out, but Onana remains Ten Hag’s preferred option. The 27-year-old is excellent with the ball at his feet and could prove to be a transformative option during build-up play.

His composure in possession against Manchester City in the Champions League final showed that he belongs at the highest level.
