Man Utd have moved in to secure surprise signing for Ruben Amorim – Report

Calvert-Lewin Everton Forward

Manchester United only scored 44 goals in the Premier League last season and their two main strikers, Hojlund and Zirkzee, managed to find the net just 7 times.

So, the Red Devils are in the market to improve their strike-force and reports indicate that they want a highly experienced star on a free transfer.

News – Report – Man Utd now want to sign £21.6million Liverpool target, Luis Suarez

According to The Sun, Man Utd have made a surprise move to hire the services of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who was not renewed by Everton at the end of his contract last month.

The British news source have mentioned that Ruben Amorim wants to secure the signing of the England international and the Old Trafford outfit have reached out to lure him on a Bosman.

Calvert-Lewin has played over 200 games in the Premier League and in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, he netted 13 and 16 goals respectively in the competition and even earned himself a place in the Three Lions squad.

However, since then, regular injuries have halted his progress and even last term, he spent a considerable amount of time on the treatment table.

The 11-capped international was absent for three months due to a serious hamstring injury and the Toffees decided to let him go.

Should Man Utd sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin?

Man Utd do need to improve the quality and depth of their striking department and someone as experienced as Dominic Calvert-Lewin can be helpful, if he stays fit.

The 28-year-old is good in the air but he is not a clinical finisher by any means, therefore, in all fairness, he could not be the main man to lead the front line week in and week out.

Taking into consideration the current financial obstacles, a free signing like Calvert-Lewin makes sense, still, Man Utd must bring in a proven goal-scorer to start in the No.9 role.

For that, they may need to offload unwanted players such as Rashford, Sancho, Garnacho and co.

In your opinion, should Man Utd sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin?
