Man Utd negotiate to finally secure first signing before deadline – Report

Erik ten Hag - Manchester United manager

Manchester United have wasted time in the winter transfer window and not secured even a single signing to reinforce the squad as yet.

With time running out, reports indicate Man Utd are negotiating to finally seal the first signing of the month by luring Martin Braithwaite from Espanyol.

According to Marca, Man Utd are exploring a move to sign the Danish international before the closure of the winter transfer window.

The news source have mentioned that the former Barcelona striker has got a release clause of 7 million euros which will be lowered to 600,000 euros if Espanyol fail to earn promotion to the Spanish La Liga.

In such a scenario, the Madrid based news outlet claim Man Utd are negotiating to get a discount fee to sign Braithwaite before deadline.

At the moment, the only fit striker at Old Trafford is Rasmus Hojlund, who has only netted two goals in the Premier League this season.

Martial has been absent for some time and is still weeks away from fitness and the situation in the strike-force is desperate.

Therefore, it is baffling that with just two days left in the window, Man Utd want to bring the 7 million euros price down instead of signing an experienced striker like Braithwaite immediately.

This season, the 32-year-old forward has featured in 22 games in the LaLiga2 thus far and netted 12 goals.

In your view, should Man Utd secure the signing of Martin Braithwaite before Thursday’s deadline?
