Manchester United have been linked with Brazilian starlet Gabriel Veron lately and the latest update is intriguing.
According to Sport, Man Utd are negotiating to agree terms with the 18-year-old attacker before moving on to discuss the fee of Palmeiras.
Transfer: Man Utd set to move to secure early signing of £53million star – Report
The famous Spanish outlet have mentioned that the Red Devils and Manchester City have taken the lead to secure the signing of the teenager, who is also on the radar of La Liga giants Barcelona.
Veron’s current contract with the Brazilian side will expire in 2025 and it has a clause of 60 million euros. In such a scenario, Palmeiras need not to be in any hurry to sell their asset.
Sport claim that at the moment, the young attacker is valued at around 20 million euros but the South American side are hoping to sell him for at least 32 million euros (£28million) i.e. the fee that the Sky Blues paid to hire the services of Selecao forward Gabriel Jesus back in 2016.
Veron was one of Brazil’s best players in the 2019 U-17 World Cup. He scored 3 goals and provided as many assists in 7 appearances to help his country lift the trophy.
This Saturday, Palmeiras will face Santos in the final of the Copa Libertadores and the winner will take part in the FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar next month.
Man Utd do need a natural right winger to strengthen their offense but Veron, who is still inexperienced, should not be considered as a starter if he does end up moving to Old Trafford.
Therefore, Solskjaer should move to sign a proven quality RW this month or in the summer so that his squad is good enough to challenge the best of teams in the continent.
In your opinion, should Man Utd splash £28million to sign Gabriel Veron?
