Hjulmand Denmark midfielder

Manchester United have had a stark turnaround in fortunes since the departure of Erik ten Hag with Ruud van Nistelrooy masterminding the team to an impressive 5-2 win over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup midweek.

The coming weekend, they face a resurgent Chelsea, who have enjoyed a good start to the season under new manager Enzo Maresca. The interim manager will be keen to make an impact on the game against the Blues.

With the Ruben Amorim era soon to start, the Portuguese coach, much like Erik ten Hag wanted to during his time as the coach, might want to bring players to Man Utd he is familiar with and one such player is Morten Hjulmand.

The Danish midfielder was linked with the Manchester-based club back in the summer. It was even reported back then that he had a £67m release clause in his contract but a move did not materialize back then.

Now that Amorim is set to be at the helm though, these links look set to intensify. As per Give Me Sport, Manchester United remain keen to sign the defensive midfielder and pair him with Manuel Ugarte in the centre of the field.

Hjulmand is a classy defensive midfielder who is an expert at breaking play. The 25-year-old is at a stage in his career where he is bound to get his big European move sooner rather than later. He deserves to play for a top club.

In Ruben Amorim, he will have a manager who he trusts at Old Trafford. The transfer would perfectly fit into the Red Devils’ plans, especially if Casemiro leaves. Let’s wait and see how it pans out.

Have your say – Should Man Utd bid £67million to finally sign Morten Hjulmand?
