Manchester United have been linked with Declan Rice for a very long time and once again, the England international is in the focus.
Back in March 2019, The Sun exclusively reported that the West Ham midfielder is on Man Utd’s radar. However, the Red Devils could not sign him in the summer transfer window.
After that, renowned outlets like The Express and Goal covered reports linking the the 21-year-old with the Old Trafford club.

Now, The Mail have recently reported that Man Utd are plotting a summer move to sign Rice. The Biritsh outlet claimed that Solskjaer sent his personal scout to observe the performance of the defensive midfielder when West Ham United played Sheffield United last Friday.
As far as Manchester United’s defensive midfield is concerned, Solskjaer has got a veteran star in the form of Nemanja Matic, who will turn 32 this year and is linked with a move away from Old Trafford (The Sun).
Apart from the Serbian international, we do not have any proven quality holding midfield star in the team. The likes of Pogba, McTominay and Fred are creative central midfielders and therefore, United should sign a solid play breaker as soon as possible.
For now, the 20-time English champions are focused on signing an attacking midfielder in the form of Bruno Fernandes (Record).
Rice was brilliant in the last campaign and helped the Hammers finish 10th in the Premier League. This season, West Ham have been inconsistent but it must be remembered that the youngster provided a rock solid cover in front of back-line to help his team keep clean sheets against top sides like Man United and Chelsea (at Stamford Bridge).
He made his debut for the senior international team back in March last year and already, the midfielder has made seven appearances for the Three Lions. His current contract with the London based club will expire in 2024 and he is rated at around £80million (Goal).
