Carrick’s strongest possible 4-2-3-1 Man Utd XI vs Chelsea

Bruno Fernandes Trains Man Utd

Michael Carrick’s first game in charge of the club ended with a 2-0 win for Manchester United, who booked their place in the KO stages of the Champions League.

Today, they will collide against league leaders Chelsea and it might be Carrick’s last game before the arrival of a new interim boss.

Transfer: Man Utd offer lucrative terms and more to finally sign £215,000 a week star – Report

In the goal, David De Gea should retain his place ahead of Dean Henderson. In front of the Spanish goalie, the likes of Bailly and Lindelof would likely start in the central defense with captain Maguire suspended. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Alex Telles must retain their fullback positions.

As far as the midfield is concerned, Fred is just a booking away from suspension, moreover, he hurt his ankle vs Villareal. Therefore, the Brazilian should be rested and we can expect Matic to return to partner McTominay in the center of the park.

In the attack, Bruno Fernandes might replace Donny van de Beek to feature in the No.10 role behind the main center forward, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sancho scored his first goal for Man Utd in the last game and the England international should retain his starting place vs the Blues. On the other hand, Marcus Rashford could replace Martial to feature on the left flank.

Here is Man Utd’s predicted 4-2-3-1 XI vs Chelsea:

  1. Matic and McTominay together make me think we may be going too defensive which might play into Chelsea’s hands. Other than that, yeh, good line-up.
Whatever, we have Mr Taylor officiating 🙂 he won’t let those cockneys get away with anything, and he may even give us a pen or two. Come on Anthony!
