Manchester United have an important summer ahead of them. The Red Devils have had a couple of very poor seasons by their own standard and Ruben Amorim will understand the important of revamping the squad ahead of the new campaign.

Years and years of poor squad planning and excessive spending on player way above their market value has left Man Utd in the lurch, as they struggle to shift players from their books due to the exorbitant wages that they are earning.

Regardless, difficult decisions have to be made, and sometimes, it is very important to have the courage to chop off an arm to save the body. New signings are the order of the day, and one option could be trying to negotiate swap deal.

Now, as per Spanish source, Fichajes, Man Utd are not deterred by the enormous asking price of £85million for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike and are willing to negotiate a player plus cash swap deal to sign the talented Frenchman.

The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the ex-PSG attacker for quite some time now. They are not alone in their interest, with Premier League rivals like Liverpool and Chelsea are looking to sign the breakout Bundesliga star.

The report mentions that Man Utd are willing to offer one of their attackers including Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee in exchange for Ekitike, which would give them the player they want but also ensure Frankfurt have a replacement.

The 22-year-old moved to Germany after a largely forgettable spell at PSG, where he had to contend with superstars and chances were few and far. In 48 games across all competitions for Frankfurt this season, he managed 22 goals and 12 assists.

Ekitike’s asking price is way too high for Man Utd and the only way they could make it worthwhile is if they manage to convince Frankfurt into a swap deal.

Even otherwise, the Old Trafford would be better off going for a more experienced number nine and let’s wait and see how they go about it.
