Manchester United are heavily linked with Jadon Sancho but the England international is not the only attacker on the radar at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils were in pursuit of Dembele last year and the latest reports suggest that they prepared an offer to sign him this summer.
Transfer: Man Utd agree deal to sign £45million player – Journalist
Mundo Deportivo (press image provided below) covered a report earlier in the day with a headline stating ‘United wanted to pay 50 kilos (million euros) for Dembele.
The renowned Spanish source cite a story covered on Radio program Onze and claim that Man Utd were ready to pay 50 million euros i.e. £43million to hire the services of the French international this summer. However, his latest injury is now an obstacle.
The 24-year-old playmaker was a superstar in Germany with Dortmund before moving to Spain. Unfortunately, since joining Barcelona, the £198,000-a-week star (Marca) has spent a lot of time on the treatment table but last season, he remained fit and featured in 44 games for the Catalan giants under Ronald Koeman.
MD state that he wanted to help France win the Euros but the they were eliminated in the Round of 16, on the other hand, Barca saw an opportunity to balance the books by selling Dembele, who will be out of contract in 2022, this summer. So, the injury has come at the wrong time for both the Les Bleus and the La Liga giants.
The former Rennes attacker can effectively play in multiple offensive positions but mainly, he is a right winger. If Man Utd are able to sign Jadon Sancho then there would be no need to lure anyone else for the RW position.
In my view, Dembele is highly injury prone and we should never move to hire his services. What do you think?
