Man Utd prepared to agree their own terms to sign £15.6million a year star – Report

Sterling Sancho England

If life paved out a career path for you, you would want it to pave one out like it has for Raheem Sterling. He has gone from Liverpool to Manchester City to Chelsea and now could be set for yet another big transfer to Manchester United.

Clearly, the man doesn’t understand the concept of rivals. At his best, Sterling was an electric winger and has had many good seasons.

His best football came at Man City under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola and his last couple of seasons have been poor, to say the least.

It’s baffling to think that Sterling is still just 29 years old as it feels like he has been around forever. As per The Telegraph, Man Utd are now looking to negotiate a swap deal for the English international on their own terms this summer.

This proposed swap deal would see Jadon Sancho move to Stamford Bridge with his future at Old Trafford looking all but over. The Red Devils will also expect the Blues to cover a part of the 29-year-old’s hefty Man Utd prepared to agree their own terms to sign the star, who earns over £15.6million a year

One more European club (unnamed) have been interested in Sterling. Enzo Maresca has made it clear that the ex-Liverpool player is not a part of his plans and that it’s time that the English winger finds himself a new club for the season.

Sterling has hardly played football at the level expected of him ever since his move to Stamford Bridge. Even his last season with Man City was largely underwhelming. Should Man Utd really be taking a gamble on him then?

Signing an ex-Man City player, even though it isn’t a direct transfer is unlikely to sit well with the fanbase either. Erik ten Hag and Man Utd might be thinking that if they can sign Sterling on a bargain, they can help him rediscover his level.

Wanting to move on Jadon Sancho is understandable but going down the Sterling route feels frankly underwhelming. It feels like that small mistake in what has been a masterclass of a transfer window and Man Utd would be better off not doing this. Let’s see how it goes.
