Manchester United were heavily linked with Jadon Sancho last year but did not meet the asking price set by Dortmund to hire his services.
As per the latest updates, the Red Devils are pushing ahead with talks to finally secure the signing of the England international in days.
Transfer: Man United ready to swoop in to sign £78,000 a week star – Ole keen
According to The Athletic, the deal stalled a year ago when the Bundesliga side asked for a mammoth fee of £110 million but this time, there is a willingness to reach a deal and the Old Trafford outfit are positive that an agreement can be sealed.
The renowned source have mentioned that Man Utd are prepared to bid £80million, which should be enough to convince Dortmund as per reports in Germany. However, BvB could demand £20million in add-ons as well.
It is stated that the 20-time English champions spent big amounts to lure Pogba and Maguire in recent seasons and this summer, they can afford to spend big to seal a marquee signing in the form of Sancho, much to the delight of the United supporters.
The European Championships will start on Friday night, 11 June, and The Athletic claim that Man Utd would like to get the player’s signature done before the start of the tournament. That might not be likely because the 21-year-old attacker is already with the Three Lions preparing for the competition.
Jadon Sancho directly contributed in 40 goals in all competitions in the 2019-20 campaign. On the other hand, he directly contributed in 36 goals (16 goals and 20 assists) in just 34 starts in all competitions for Dortmund last season.
The former Man City attacker can effectively play on either flank and if he does end up moving to Old Trafford, then Solskjaer would ideally utilize him on the right wing, which is currently the weakest position in Man Utd’s attack.
Will the Red Devils be able to finally secure his signing? Only time will tell. For the latest updates on the transfer saga, watch this space.
