So, Ten Hag lacks quality and depth in the midfield and once again, reports indicate that the Dutch manager wants to sign De Jong.
According to Spanish source, Fichajes, Man Utd are prepared to make a big push to lure the Oranje midfielder from Barcelona.
The former Ajax man has always expressed he wants to stay at the Nou Camp, however, Ten Hag continues to dream of signing him.
As per Nacional, De Jong still has an amount of 27 million euros to receive as deferred salary which he does not want to give up and Man Utd are putting pressure to lure him.
The Catalan source claim Ten Hag has asked the Netherlands international to not pen a new deal with the Blaugrana and wait for the Red Devils.
The 26-year-old won every major domestic Dutch title with Ajax under the management of the current Old Trafford boss and last season, he was a key member of Xavi’s squad that won the La Liga trophy.
In the current campaign, £320,000 a week star (The Mirror) has featured in every game for Barcelona thus far.
At the moment, Man Utd are struggling and need a versatile and creative midfielder like Frenkie de Jong to strengthen the squad. The question is, can they finally lure him in the next transfer window?
