The renowned media outlet have mentioned that even Manchester City are interested in the 19-year-old midfielder, who has already made 36 senior appearances for the Eagles.
As per Jose Boto, who was Benfica’s scout for more than a decade, Neves is ready to play at the highest level. Praising the midfielder, Boto stated:
“At his age, he combines talent with impressive dynamism in midfield and above-average maturity, something he demonstrates with every performance he makes”.
“He shows that he’s ready to play at the highest level and has huge scope for progression. He’s a player who impresses and whose faults are hard to find.”
The teenage sensation’s current contract has a release clause of 120 million euros but reports have indicated that he could be lured for a fee of around £61million (70 million euros).
Last month, he made his debut for the senior international side and it will not be surprising to see him at the European Championships next year.
The youngster is primarily a defensive midfielder and apart from being a solid play breaker, he has proved to be effective as a deep lying playmaker.
Neves featured in 17 games as Benfica won the Liga Nos title last season. As far as the current season is concerned, so far, he has helped the team keep 5 clean sheets in 7 league starts.
