Man United press to close signing of £57million star – Journalist

Pau Torres and Sergio Ramos - Spain

Manchester United have been linked with several center backs from the La Liga and one of them is Spanish international Pau Torres.

If the latest reports in the media are anything to go by then the Red Devils seem to be favorites to get his signing done.

Transfer: Man Utd offer £108,000-a-week star to sign £26million playmaker – Report

Cadena Ser journalist, Anton Meana, revealed on El Larguero podcast that Man Utd are pressing to close the signing of the 24-year-old before the start of the European Championships in June.

Furthermore, Meana has claimed that other clubs like Real Madrid are interested in the Villareal star as well but they are resigned to losing out on his signature. Why? Because the Old Trafford outfit are in an advanced position to hire his services.

Torres is the leader of the backline for the Yellow Submarine under the management of Unai Emery. If Sergio Ramos does not recover in time then the Pau could be leading the defense for Spain at the Euros as well.

The 7-capped international’s current contract with the Estadio de la Ceramica outfit will expire in the summer of 2024 and it has a release clause of 65 million euros (£57million). Reports last month have indicated that Man Utd would only be able to close his signing if they agree to activate the £57million clause (La Razon).

Last season, United conceded 36 goals in the Premier League. As far as this campaign is concerned, so far, they have already let in 35 goals in 33 games, 11 more than Manchester City, who have the best defensive record in the league.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s needs to have a rock solid and consistent backline if he seriously weants to win the Premier League title next term. In such a scenario, do you think Man Utd should spend £57million to sign Pau Torres?
