Manchester United are in dire need of a leader at the back and Ten Hag is eyeing a move to get his former leader at Ajax at Old Trafford.
According to reports, the Man Utd boss is pressing to sign Matthijs de Ligt from German champions, Bayern Munich.

As per Sky Germany, Ten Hag is very interested in securing the Dutch international, who is unhappy with his situation at the Allianz.
De Ligt has mainly been a bench warmer in the current campaign and the Red Devils have sights set on signing him from the Bavarians.
The Oranje center half was the captain of the Ajax side that won the domestic double and reached the last four of the Champions League in 2018-19 under Ten Hag.
In 2019, he moved to Juventus and won every major domestic title in Italy before joining Bayern in the summer of 2022.
Last season, he featured in 31 (started 27) out of 34 Bundesliga games as Tuchel’s men went on to win the title.
This season, the German manager has preferred Upamecano and new signing, Min-Jae, in the XI and thus far De Ligt has only managed to start four games in the league and one in the Champions League.
Hence, the £263,000 a week star needs to leave to get regular first team football as Sky claim Bayern are even looking to add Barca’s Ronald Araujo in the summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old was lured for a fee of around 80 million euros and still has more than three left years on his contract with the Bundesliga champions.
So, Man Utd will have to pay a considerable fee to reunite Matthijs de Ligt with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
