Manchester United adequately improve their attacking department by signing the likes of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Still, they are linked with attacking playmakers and the name of Federico Chiesa is in the focus.
Transfer: Man Utd threaten to pay £42.4million to secure signing – Report
According to Calcio Mercato, Ronaldo wants to reunite with the Italian international and is pushing Man Utd to secure his signing. Agent Ivan Reggiani claimed:
“I think there are very serious and important foreign pressures on him. Chiesa is the second-third player as a talent in Italy. Appreciated across the Channel, it is heavily sponsored by Cristiano Ronaldo . I think Federico can leave Juventus very soon. It can easily exceed one hundred million (£85million)”.
The Bianconeri were not able to retain the title last season but Chiesa, who is currently on loan from Fiorentina, was brilliant. In all competitions, he directly contributed in 26 goals (15 goals and 11 assists).
Moreover, he won the European Championships with Italy in the summer and was named in the Team of the Tournament. He found the net twice in the competition.
Chiesa is naturally a winger but he can also play in the CAM and CF roles if needed. In my view, Man Utd have ample quality and depth in their attack and therefore, there is no dire need to spend £85million to sign the Azzurri star.
Instead, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should focus on reinforcing the midfield department in the next transfer window? Have your say.
