As per recent reports going on in the media, we are linked with numerous quality center forwards like Lyon’s Moussa Dembele (The Mail), PSG’s Edinson Cavani (AS) and Wolves’ Raul Jimenez (Goal).
Now, a new name is in the lime light in the form of Arkadiusz Milik, who plays for Napoli. According to an exclusive story covered by The Sun, Man Utd are readying a move to secure the signing of the £60million forward.
The British source have mentioned that the Polish international is in talks to renew his contract with the Italian club (expires in 2021) and Solskjaer is ready to move to sign him should the discussions break down.
Transfer: Man Utd consider move to sign £50million+ attacking midfielder this month – Report
Last season, the former Ajax man scored 17 goals in 27 league starts under the management of Carlo Ancelotti. The 25-year-old striker has been in top form for the Serie A side this term. In all competitions, he has so far started 10 games in all competitions and scored as many goals (Transfermarkt).
As far as his international career is concerned, so far, Milik has netted 14 goals in 49 appearances for Poland.
Man Utd have been struggling this season but Napoli are in a much worse condition. The Italians recently sacked Ancelotti and hired Gattuso. They are in 8th place at the moment, 11 points behind Roma, who currently occupy the final Champions League qualification position in the table.
However, the Naples based club booked their place in the KO stages of the CL and will face Barcelona in the Round of 16 next month. On the other hand, Man United are playing in the Europa League. So, it will not come as any surprise to see Milik wait until the summer to decide his future.
Solskjaer’s failure to replace Romelu Lukaku in the summer is hurting Manchester United this term and the Norwegian manager has still not signed a striker to replace the Belgian.
Man Utd desperately need to improve the fire-power up front and must move to sign a top striker this month. In your view, should the Red Devils splash the cash to lure Arkadiusz Milik?
First up, must be Bruno Fernandes then then a striker. I dont really think we have crisis upfront at the moment though I do agree that options in that area are limited. I strongly feel we need atleast two midfielders, another quality CB if united cant use Rojo and addition upfront.
We need a CB urgently, we have enough upfront boys who can deliver the results only if the midfielders are there.
