A rebuild in the upcoming summer has become more a necessity than an option for Man Utd at this point with their future as a club hanging in the balance. The Red Devils have been extremely poor for the last couple of years and are in the risk of dropping into midtable mediocrity.
Ruben Amorim was brought in mid-season, replacing Erik ten Hag and the Portuguese tactician has only seen his team lose more games since. However, he will know that he needs to get his recruitment right in the summer and build a winning project for the future.
As they say, Rome wasn’t built in one day and Man Utd are unlikely to be rebuilt in a day either. Fans need to be patient but there needs to be signs of consistent improvement and that could mean making some sacrifices this summer.
Now, as per Area Napoli, Man Utd are ready to accept a fee of around £42.5million to part ways with talented Argentinian playmaker Alejandro Garnacho who has interest from Serie A side Napoli. Antonio Conte’s men were interested in signing him back in January and could return in the summer.
Garnacho has long been considered one of the brightest prospects to have come through the Man Utd academy in recent times but since his step up to the first team and the initial burst, consistency has eluded him at the top most level.
Ruben Amorim doesn’t seem to be the biggest fan of Garnacho at the moment and there have been times where the Portuguese tactician has made his displeasure clear and 10 goals and 9 assists in 52 appearances isn’t really the numbers one would expect.
It must be remembered here that the Argentinian international is still just 20 years old and with the talent that he has, he could come good if given the right backing. However, Man Utd’s current project doesn’t have that luxury.
With a rebuild on the cards, it is important to raise money to buy players and selling an academy player could help them generate a lot of profit. Thus, it makes a lot of sense for the Red Devils to cash in on Garnacho in the summer and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
