However, the Catalan source have mentioned that the arrival of the former Monaco man is linked with the departure of De Jong from Barca.

It is stated that Man Utd have raised the offer, they are ready to pay 75 million euros (£64.4million) to agree a fee with the La Liga giants.

Sport claim that if the £64.4million bid reaches Barca, the sale of De Jong to Man Utd would be guaranteed and the Spanish side will then move to hire the services of Silva from the Premier League champions.

Erik ten Hag is desperate to bring the 25-year-old to Old Trafford (The Mirror). Under the guidance of the 52-year-old coach, the Netherlands international was one of the key members of the Ajax side that won the domestic double and reached the semis of the CL in the 2018-19 season.

However, Barca have been on a decline ever since they lost 4-0 to Liverpool at Anfield (2019) and De Jong has not been able to perform at the optimum level in Spain.

Ten Hag knows all about the qualities of his compatriot and can get the best out of him. The Dutchman will have to sacrifice Champions League football for next season if he decides to join Man Utd.
