The 22-year-old center back’s current contract with Juventus has a release clause of 125 million euros that will eventually rise to 140 million euros next year.
De Ligt is negotiating for a new deal which will have a considerably lower release clause but the Old Lady do not want that. In such a scenario, Man Utd are ready to take advantage of the situation to reunite him with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
CdS claim that the Bianconeri could face a serious threat from the Premier League as even Chelsea are interested in signing the former Eredivisie star.
The Netherlands international still has two years left on his contract and he currently earns around £280,000 a week (Goal).
In the 2018-19 season, De Ligt won the domestic double as the captain of Ajax under the management of Ten Hag. The Dutch giants were on the brink of reaching the Champions League final but a last minute goal from Spurs broke their hearts.
The youngster decided to join Juventus and won the Serie A in his debut season in Italy. He has won every major domestic prize with the Turin based side.
Manchester United conceded 57 goals in the Premier League last season and they must lure a strong center half like Matthijs de Ligt. However, it might be hard to convince him to join with no Champions League football on the offer.
