Man Utd ready to get ahead to sign £70,000-a-week star – Report

Osimhen Nigeria center forward

Manchester United are ready to get ahead of everyone to secure the signing of Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window.

As per a recent report covered by Il Mattino, the Red Devils launched their initial move in the January transfer window but it was turned down by Napoli.

Transfer: AS – Man Utd have submitted offer to sign £89million star

The Italian media outlet have mentioned that the Naples based did not even sit down to negotiate with United and have postponed the operation until June.

Osimhen’s current deal at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona outfit will expire in 2025 and at the moment, he earns over 4 million euros per season i.e. around £70,000-a-week.

Il Mattino claim the Serie A side are aware that it will be hard to hold on to the star striker, who has not stayed in one place for long since moving to Europe.

Napoli do want to agree a new contract with the Nigerian international but it is impossible to offer him a bumper pay rise in light of the salary cap imposed by president, Aurelio de Laurentiis.

In such a scenario, it is reported that the auction is ready for Osimhen and it will take a fee of 150 million euros to hire his services. In pole position is the ‘Premier League’ and Man Utd are working to get ahead in the race.

The Italian side are already looking at options to replace the center forward, who is currently the top scorer in the Serie A with 16 goals.

Have your say – Should Man Utd break the bank to sign Victor Osimhen in the summer?
