Man Utd ready to splash cash to sign £50million forward & £40million midfielder in January

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

In the summer, Manchester United strengthened their back-line by signing Wan-Bissaka and Maguire and reinforced the attacking midfield by hiring James.

However, Solskjaer failed to strengthen his strike-force and the midfield, therefore, the Red Devils should splash the cash to improve the quality of the key departments.

According to an exclusive report covered by The Daily Star, Man Utd are ready to spend big to sign French forward Moussa Dembele and English midfielder Sean Longstaff in January.

Transfer: Man Utd ready to move to sign £11million star who wants Old Trafford move

After winning the first two league games, Lyon have failed to win in their last six outings but the 23-year-old forward has been in top form. Dembele is currently the joint top scorer in the Ligue 1 with 6 goals in 7 starts.

Last season, Lukaku was United’s top scoring center forward but he was sold to Inter Milan in the summer. On the other hand, Martial has been injured lately and Rashford has been highly inconsistent this season. So, Solskjaer needs someone, who would be able to find the net regularly.

Renowned French outlet, Le10Sport, reported that recruiting Dembele would be one of Man Utd’s priorities in the coming months. As per The Daily Star, Man Utd believe that the former Celtic center forward can be signed for a fee of £50million.

As far as Longstaff is concerned, the 21-year-old made his debut for the Magpies under the management of Rafael Benitez last season. He scored his debut goal for the club vs the Clarets and provided a vital assist against Man City.

This season, so far, Newcastle have struggled under Steve Bruce and at the moment, they are 19th in the table. Longstaff has so far started 4 games in the current campaign and provided 1 assist (vs Norwich).

As per The Daily Star, Woodward could convince Newcastle to sell their prized asset for a fee of £40million.
