Man Utd ready to submit third bid to sign £68.3million star – Report

Rasmus Hojlund - Denmark

Manchester United have accelerated their efforts to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s squad ahead of the new season.

Having already confirmed the arrival of Mason Mount from Chelsea, the club’s hierarchy are planning to deliver Ten Hag the second signing of the summer.

United’s budget for the ongoing transfer window has been crippled by financial fair play concerns, but they are ready to bid for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, as per The Telegraph (news image provided below).

This would be the third attempt from the Old Trafford outfit to lure the center forward this summer. Reports in Italy suggest United have already had two bids – 35 million euros (£29.85million) and 46 million euros (£39.24million) – rejected for the player.

The Denmark international, who has bagged six goals in as many games for his country so far, is Erik ten Hag’s preferred option for the number nine role ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt talisman, Randal Kolo Muani.

Hojlund possesses immense pace and has shown he’s capable of combining with his teammates in and around the penalty area. However, the 20-year-old is still a raw talent with less than 100 appearances under his belt.

Ideally, he should move to the Premier League as a backup striker this summer following a breakthrough season in Serie A, where he managed nine league goals in 32 games.

Failure to make a move for Harry Kane due to Tottenham Hotspur’s tough stance and lack of other viable goal-scoring options mean Hojlund is the primary target to improve the strike-force

As per the English outlet, United believe they can sign the 20-year-old Serie A sensation for around £50million, but reports in the media indicate that the Bergamo club want up to £68.3million for their asset (80 million euros).

Apart from the striker position, United are also ‘seeking to cover’ the goalkeeping department this summer. They are close to signing, Andre Onana, who has been earmarked as an ideal man to play between the sticks for the club next season.
