Man Utd readying £43million move to sign player in January – Face competition

Caglar Soyuncu Turkey

Manchester United splashed the cash in summer to make Harry Maguire the most expensive defender in the history of the game.

Leicester City opted to spend just £19million (Sky Sports) and lured Caglar Soyuncu from Freigburg to replace the England international at the King Power Stadium. The Turkish international has been highly impressive for the Foxes this season and reports indicate that the Red Devils are interested in signing him.

According to Fanatik, Soyuncu has become one of the most important players at Leicester and his market value has increased each passing day.

Transfer: Man Utd could seal signing of £350,000-a-week star in January – Report

The Turkish source have revealed that Manchester United want to hire his services and are readying a move worth 50 million euros (£43million) to sign the 23-year-old in January. It is mentioned that even Manchester City are interested in luring the ex-Bundesliga player.

The former Altinordu defender has been brilliant under the management of Brendan Rodgers. So far, he has helped Leicester, who are second in the table, keep five clean sheets in the league and scored his first goal for them earlier this month against Crystal Palace.

Turkey have already booked their place in the next year’s European Championships and Soyuncu was impressive in their qualification campaign in which he made four appearances and helped the team keep three clean sheets.

City’s star defender, Laporte, is out injured and they have been using Fernandinho, a natural midfielder, in the central defense. Therefore it is understandable that they are looking to make amends by signing a center back.

The question is, why are United looking to sign another central defender? In the past few years, we have lured CBs like Bailly, Lindelof and Maguire. Moreover, we also have players like Jones, Rojo and Tuanzebe. Not forget, Chris Smalling is currently on loan with AS Roma.

Since the arrival of Maguire and Wan-Bissaka, our back-line has largely improved and the former Leicester City star has formed a decent central defensive partnership with Lindelof? In such a scenario, do you think that we need another center half in January?

Solskjaer clearly lacks depth and quality up front and therefore, the attacking department must be reinforced on priority basis in the winter transfer window.

  1. We are interested in signing another CB because to date we have acquired garbage to merely mediocre. Our very expensive plonker has not yet scored a single goal for us in his tenure and is lightning slow, the Swede is very demure, shy and retiring and the others spend most of their time in the sick bay. Even Smalling was better than what we have now. Koulibaly, Milenkovic and Neves wouldn’t be be a bad bet.
